Protect your smile

Repairing damaged teeth, preventing further decay, and restoring function.

A damaged tooth can be a source of discomfort and worry, significantly impacting your quality of life. It can interfere with your ability to eat, sleep, and socialise comfortably, affecting your general health. Addressing this issue promptly with dental fillings helps alleviate discomfort, prevent further deterioration, and maintain your smile’s health and appearance.

At Complete Dental Works, we focus on providing good-quality dental fillings that are safe and effective. We use modern techniques and materials to ensure that your fillings restore your teeth and blend seamlessly with your natural smile. Our goal is to provide you with the care and confidence you need to enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile in the future.

Dental fillings

What are dental fillings?

Dental fillings are a restorative treatment used to repair minor to moderate damage to teeth, such as decay, cracks, fractures, or wear. They effectively “fill” the cavity from damage, preventing further issues and restoring the tooth’s shape, function, and strength. Fillings also alleviate tooth sensitivity and discomfort caused by exposed dentin (the layer beneath the enamel).

Do you need dental fillings?

  • Persistent toothache or sensitivity
  • Noticeable holes or pits in teeth
  • Visible signs of broken or chipped teeth
  • Surface discoloration or staining
  • Discomfort or sensitivity when biting or chewing
If you experience any of these symptoms or are concerned about the health of your teeth, book a comprehensive assessment with your CDW dentist.

Composite resin fillings

Composite resin fillings, also known as tooth-coloured or white fillings, are dental filling materials made from a mixture of plastic and fine glass particles. Unlike traditional silver (amalgam) fillings, composite resin fillings can be colour-matched to the natural shade of your teeth, making them nearly invisible when placed.

This type of filling is considered a conservative treatment because it is sculpted and bonded directly to the tooth, typically requiring less removal of healthy tooth structure. This approach aids in preserving more of your natural teeth.

Consultation and examination: We’ll discuss your concerns, examine your teeth, and recommend the most effective treatment based on the location and severity of the damage.

Anaesthesia: Once we confirm your suitability for dental fillings, we’ll ensure a pain-free experience by administering a local anaesthetic (numbs the area around the tooth).

Tooth preparation: We’ll carefully remove decayed or damaged tooth structures using a drill with a water spray to minimise discomfort.

Cleaning and disinfection: We’ll thoroughly clean and disinfect the area to prevent infection.

Filling placement: We’ll place the composite resin filling material in layers and sculpt it to restore your tooth’s original shape and function. We’ll use a curing light to harden the material, ensuring strength and durability.

Polishing: Finally, we’ll polish the filling to create a smooth and natural-looking finish.

Caring for your dental fillings

Following the placement of dental fillings, proper care is essential to ensure their longevity and your continued oral health. Here’s how you can effectively care for your fillings:

Commit to excellent oral hygiene: Brush your teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily. This meticulous routine removes plaque buildup and helps prevent future decay around your fillings.

Adopt a balanced diet: Limit sugary foods and beverages. Sugar creates an environment conducive to cavity formation, which can compromise the integrity of your fillings.

Stay consistent with dental checkups: Schedule regular visits to Complete Dental Works. These checkups allow us to monitor the condition of your fillings, assess your overall oral health, and ensure continued well-being.

Avoid straining your fillings: Refrain from using your teeth as tools or biting on hard objects. This can damage your fillings and weaken your teeth over time.
