Inlays and onlays
Conservative choice for durable restorations
Strong, precise, and natural-looking tooth restorations that effectively repair decay and damage.

Inlays and onlays
Inlays and onlays are custom-made dental restorations used to repair teeth that are too damaged for a regular filling, but not compromised enough to require a full dental crown.

- Inlays are designed to fit within the grooves between the cusps (the raised points) on the chewing surface of a tooth.
- Onlays, on the other hand, cover one or more of the cusps and can restore a larger portion of the tooth’s surface. Because of this, onlays are sometimes referred to as “partial crowns.”
Both inlays and onlays are precisely crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural tooth and are bonded securely in place for a strong, lasting result.
When are inlays and onlays recommended?
- Teeth with moderate decay or cracks that are too large for a filling
- Teeth that are worn down or structurally weakened
- Replacing old or failing metal fillings
- Patients who want a more conservative option than a full crown

What to expect at your dental check-up
After your initial consultation, your Complete Dental Works dentist will conduct a careful and thorough oral examination and check-up.
Your dentist can identify any existing or potential oral health problems regarding your teeth or gums. They will also check your teeth’s support tissues, your lymph and salivary glands, and your tongue. If required, we will also take X-rays and use an intra-oral camera to assist in our understanding, diagnosis and assessment of your oral health.
